South by Southwest (SXSW) March 10-19 Austin, TX

South by Southwest is much more than a music festival. This event also features a film festival and a host of panel discussion about arts, tech and social issues. Featuring indie rock, folk, rock, hip hop, and alternative artists, the music part of the festival won’t fail to amaze. And with the additional events going on attendees can take a break for a cool independent movie.

When We Were Young, April 8-9, Orange County, CA

Featuring rock and alternative bands from across the years, the brand new music festival promises a nostalgic lineup for audiences. Headlined by Morissey, the remaining lineup featur3es bands like Taking Back Sunday, Alkaline Trio, and AFI, and well as newer acts with similar sounds inspired by alt-rock and emo bands of yesteryear.

Coachella, April 14-23, Indio, CA

This long running staple of the music festival circuit isn’t slowing down any time soon. The major acts this year feature Queen Bey herself, Radiohead, and Lorde. With a ton of acts from across the spectrum, Coachella can scratch any musical itch you might have. From hip-hop to house EDM to hard rock there will be something for every attendee.

Hangout Music Festival, May 19-21, Gulf Shores, AL

If you’re in need of a great beach party, the Hangout Music Festival is the perfect choice. Hosted on the beaches of Gulf Shore this year is headlined by Mumford & Sons, MGMT, Chance the Rapper and Frank Ocean. Stretching along the sands on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico, this festival is fast becoming a perfect vacation destination. Fans can enjoy sun, waves, and all night concerts.

Sunset Music Festival, May 27-28, Tampa, FL

If you’re looking to dance the night away, this EDM music festival also includes activities and art installations attendees can check out. The lineup features big name DJs and new names to the electronic music scene.  Music fans that are looking for a two day rave will have a great time at Sunset Music Festival.

Governors Ball, June 2-4, New York City, NY

Not to be confused with a political event, the Governors Ball takes over Randall’s Island with music, art, activities, and amazing NYC cuisine. The lineup is packed with big names like Chance the Rapper, Tool, Phoenix, Childish Gambino, and Cage the Elephant, as well as lesser knows acts  well worth checking out. Festival goers can rock out in the heart of the city and make a vacation out of it by exploring the sights and sounds of New York and the Burroughs.

Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, June 8-11, Manchester, TN

Started in 2002, this annual summer festival has become a staple of the festival circuit. Featuring rock, R&B, EDM, and indie bands, there are plenty of other things to attend. The Bonnaroo Comedy Festival will also feature big names and hilarious acts for those who need a break from the music. The Bonnaroo festival also creates a great temporary community with group yoga classes and special events for kids.
